Group Leveling

  1. Don't social networking games use group leveling? Isn't what happens in Farmville essentially group leveling?

  2. Well I don't know too much about Farmville considering I have not played in a long time. However you bring a valid point. social networking games could have some sort of element to group leveling in the case that everyone sort of helps each other out with whatever. Whether it is harvesting or watering crops like in Farmville. What I am talking about is the actions of a person affect a group as a whole instead of one friend helping out another friend. For example in my game Resistance if a character blows up a train this does not only effect him it effects the whole group in a way of renown. It’s not just him who gets credit for this one thing, it is the whole group. The way I see it is games like Farmville leans more to the individual that has friends that help him and he in turn helps him in their own personal endeavors, rather than a one group, one community dedicated to one goal. basically I see games like Farmville only working as a two way thing, I help and you help me, where as the group leveling I am talking about is one person or the group as a whole does something thing and it effects everyone in the group or in the game world. However, I think you are right I can see some of the ideas or even a variation the idea of group leveling in a game like social networking games.
